  • Wednesday 22 June 2022 Royal Holloway University Visit Year 12 Economists went to Royal Holloway University to attend a ‘discover economics’ workshop learning more about what studying economics at university is like, the role of an academic economist, learning about the economic implications of climate change and learning about the statistical analysis tools economists use.
  • Monday 13 June 2022 Art Show We had a fantastic Friday evening at the Art Exhibit. It was great to see so many people supporting our artists. Well done to all the pupils and to the Art department for putting this exhibit together. And a big thank you to the PTA for providing drinks and refreshments.
  • Wednesday 25 May 2022 Royal Academy Young Artists' Summer Show 2022 We are delighted one of our sixth formers has been selected to be included in the Royal Academy Young Artists' Summer Show 2022. Congratulations to Monty in Year 13! The exhibition is at the Royal Academy of Arts from 19th July - 14th August. Entry is free, so please make sure you go and support.
  • Thursday 19 May 2022 London School of Economics Lecture Visit Y12 Economists went to the London School of Economics to attend a public lecture from Bank of England Economists to discuss their new book ‘Can't We Just Print More Money’ explaining how economics can explain almost every problem humans face in their lives in a language that anyone can understand.
  • Monday 16 May 2022 Prefect Team 2022-23 We'd like to introduce you to the new prefect team for 2022-23!
  • Friday 13 May 2022 Guest Speaker: Andy Slaughter This week Andy Slaughter, MP for Hammmersmith and Fulham, came to talk to Year 12 in our weekly Guest Speaker Slot. As well as explaining to the students how our parliamentary system works in the UK and what the work of an MP entails, he also answered lots of questions for over an hour afterwards!
  • Friday 13 May 2022 The British Academy Trip Some Year 12 Economists watched a debate at The British Academy about the potential introduction of an online sales tax to support town centres and the high street. It was an excellent opportunity to understand how economic theory applies in the real world and to gain a greater understanding of some of the potential careers available as economists and accountants.
  • Tuesday 10 May 2022 Royal Bank of Canada Trip Just before the Easter break,a group of Y12 students took part in the final workshop of the Take the Lead programme, visiting the Royal Bank of Canada headquarters in central London. This final session involved interview practice and a CV workshop, and a great opportunity to see the City at work!
  • Wednesday 27 April 2022 Bank of England Economics Trip Year 12 economists spent the morning at The Bank of England Museum, learning about how the central bank influences our lives, the history of money, the history of the bank and its links with the slave trade as well as getting the chance to hold a solid gold bar worth over £600,000!

  • Wednesday 30 March 2022 Spanish Trip to the Cervantes Theatre Sixth form students who study Spanish visited 'Cervantes Theatre' to watch a performance of 'La Casa de Bernarda Alba' by Lorca. Students were captivated by the intense performances in Spanish. It was an exciting experience and brilliant to see the set text live, full of the repression of Franco's regime that the play expressed.
  • Tuesday 29 March 2022 Science Week Our students had an exciting Science Week packed with activities across the school as well as visits.
  • Friday 4 March 2022 New Art Computers: Investment from The Knowledge Schools Foundation Trust (KSFT) The Art Department welcomed new computers at West London Free School (WLFS), including 12 at the Sixth Form, last year thanks to investment through the Knowledge Schools Foundation Trust. The new devices have opened up new learning opportunities for students as they are now being taught programmes such as Photoshop and SketchUp. With the new set up there is an allowance for one computer per student in lessons.
  • Tuesday 1 March 2022 French and History of Art trip to Paris From Thursday 24th – Sunday 27th February 45 students and 5 staff went to enjoy Paris and take in its cultural heritage. It was quite an achievement just arriving in the city with COVID still looming over us. Irrespective of this, we had an excellent time and below are the thoughts from three representatives on the trip.

  • Sunday 19 December 2021 Guest Speaker: Sir Max Hastings Our students had an invaluable opportunity to hear from journalist & military historian, Sir Max Hastings. Hastings has worked as a foreign correspondent for the BBC, editor-in-chief of The Daily Telegraph, and editor of the Evening Standard. He has also written numerous books, chiefly on defence matters.
  • Friday 10 December 2021 Poetry Conference Year 12 and 13 English Literature students had an exceptional opportunity to hear the Poet Laureate Simon Armitage, along with Daljit Nagra and Julia Copus at the English and Media Centre Poetry Conference. The poets read, discussed and answered questions from the poems that our students study as part of their poetry unit. They also heard from university lecturers, examiners and The Guardian journalists about how to approach a poem. This was an incredible, memorable and really useful experience for everyone!
