Leadership Team
Miss G Speller
Director of Sixth Form
It is without doubt the greatest job in the world to lead the Sixth Form here at WLFS; to watch the students grow and become rounded, young adults, and to ensure that they have the best possible experience with us, and leave us with the best possible chances at the end of their two years. I look forward to getting to know you all.
Miss Speller is responsible for the day-to-day academic delivery of teaching and learning and provides a critical point of contact for parents and students who wish to discuss issues and progress. Miss Speller is also a linguist with a specialism in French.
Miss Speller read French & German at Bristol University, focusing particularly on the politics and history of the two countries. She then completed her teacher training at Oxford University before heading to work in Camden. For the last 5 years she has been Head of Sixth Form, where, amongst other things, she developed partnerships with international businesses in the local area, to the great benefit of the students.
Mr V Tamizian
Deputy Head of Sixth Form (Academic) and Head of UCAS
The support we provide in helping prepare students for their university applications is second to none in my opinion. Every student gets the individual attention they deserve whether they want to go for a high-end apprenticeship or a top university. If you are a member of our Scholars Programme you will be guided and supported to success in your Oxbridge, Medicine, and related specialist applications.
Mr Tamizian supports students through the Sixth Form application process, helping them make decisions about which A Levels are most appropriate for them, bearing in mind their longer term plans. He is also responsible for providing support and guidance on all aspects of academic study, including the critical choice on which university course or apprenticeship to apply for. Mr Tamizian also teaches A Level History.
Mr Tamizian graduated with an MA in history from Clare College, Cambridge, where he also completed his PGCE and a Masters in Education.
Mr D Millar
Head of Year 13
Starting sixth form is an exciting time in a young person’s life. My role is to make sure our students get the most out of their experience by offering pastoral support. Pupils can seek me out whenever they have questions or worries and I’ll help myself or point them in the direction of someone who can.
Ms Owen offers guidance and support to all Year 13 students and also teaches Mathematics.
Mr Millar studied at Trinity College, Dublin and the Open University, graduating with a BA in Music and Spanish. After University, he taught English as a Foreign Language in the north of Spain for two years, during which time he studied for an MA in Musicology. Later, he changed track, moving back to the UK to join the Teach First programme, working in a secondary school in Wales and gaining a PGDE in Secondary Mathematics from Bath Spa University.
Mr Millar is a keen clarinettist and singer; he was a choral scholar at Trinity College, Dublin, and has sung at the opening night of the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall.
Miss E Dimond
Head of Year 12
As Head of Year 12, I provide pastoral support to students. Year 12 is a potentially stressful time for both students and parents settling into new routines, and I provide an initial point of contact to access guidance and advice.
Miss Dimond offers guidance and support to all Year 12 students and also teaches History.
Miss Dimond graduated from the University of St Andrews with a MA in Modern History. She later completed a PGCE at the University of Cambridge before joining the history teaching community. She has a particular interest in 18th century society and material culture in Britain.
Miss Dimond loves to travel, play hockey, read, visit art galleries and linocut printmaking.
